How to work through a reading-comprehension worksheet
Read first for meaning: Encourage your child to read the passage once without answering every question immediately. If needed, read it aloud together and clarify unfamiliar words in context.
Return to the text: For each answer, ask the learner to find a sentence or detail that supports it. When a question requires an inference, discuss what the passage suggests rather than searching for an exact repeated phrase.
Explain the answer: A short spoken reason can build comprehension before writing. Review any missed questions by rereading the relevant part, rather than only supplying the correct answer.
